Andy Awford admitted he’s got a job on his hands to lift his players after their 3-0 defeat at Bury today.
Pompey made it five League Two games without a win as they went down to defeat at Gigg Lane.
Goals from Danny Mayor, Ryan Lowe and Danny Rose proved the Blues’ downfall as they failed to get out of second gear against their high-flying hosts.
The result was also Pompey’s fifth on the road without scoring.
And with Stevenage next up at Fratton Park on Tuesday night, the Blues boss admitted he wouldn’t accept a similiar preformance.
‘I can’t knock their effort, they tried very hard today – but it’s not good enough, simple as that,’ said Awford.
‘We’ve got a job to do to lift them, to do a bit more with them, to get more out of them and they’ve got to stand up and be counted as well.
‘We’re all in this together, we’ve all got our jobs to do and we’ll have to keep doing that.’
