Pompey are around 100 season tickets short of surpassing last season’s tally – with 27 days still to go before the campaign kicks off.
At the close of the Early Bird offer on Saturday, more than 10,500 seats had been sold.
That has put the Blues within touching distance of the 10,660 who snapped up season tickets for last season.
It caps an outstanding few days for the Fratton faithful, who on Friday night ensured the half-way point was reached in the FanFunding drive for new Academy facilities.
At present it is more than £126,000 with 28 days still to go before the deadline to reach the ambitious £250,000 target.
Chief executive Mark Catlin admitted he has been stunned by the impressive season ticket sales.
He said: ‘It’s absolutely incredible,
‘On Friday night it was up to 10,200 and on Saturday – the last day of Early Bird – they ended up being more than 10,500.
‘We still have three or four weeks to go before the first game of the season.
‘So there’s still a chance we will get another 300-400 as well so it is absolutely phenomenal.
‘I must admit, I didn’t expect us to beat last year’s total.
‘However you dress it up, we came out of administration with the enthusiasm and feel-good factor and thought it would be a one-off experience that we failed to replicate having not got a promotion and it is carrying on.
‘Based on what went on on the pitch, I thought at one point we would be looking at 8,000-8,500, which would be a good achievement.
‘But once again the Pompey fans have been outstanding and now we are going to advance on last season’s figure.’
