Pompey have vehemently denied reports they have been in discussions to sign convicted rapist Ched Evans.

A report on social media site Twitter this afternoon alleged the Blues had been in talks with the striker’s representatives after the former Wales international’s proposed move to Oldham fell through.

However, club director Mick Williams took to Twitter himself to dispell the suggestion that Pompey were interested in Evans’ services.

Williams, posting on his personal account under the username @mickwill, said: ‘There is no truth whatsoever that #Pompey have been in contact with Ched Evans representatives. #EndOf’

The 26-year-old ex-Sheffield United forward, who was convicted of rape in April 2012, was released from prison on October 17 after serving two-and-a-half years of a five-year sentence.
