Pompey failed to spoil the Norwich promotion party as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat.

Simeon Jackson’s 50th-minute header was enough to see the Canaries secure a spot in the top flight next season in the last game of the campaign at Fratton Park.

Jackson was on hand to head in a lovely David Fox cross and get the celebrations started for the visitors.

There were jubilant scenes for them on the final whistle, and the inevitable pitch invasion ensued.

Norwich deserved their victory as the home side failed to create any chances of real note.

Despite having little to play for, though, Pompey pressed until the death and didn’t make it easy for Paul Lambert’s side.

There was a cracking atmosphere for the clash, with both sets of fans in great voice.

Pompey supporters put on a great show for the Sky cameras, coming off the back of the fans’ day earlier in the day.

The result leaves Pompey in 16th place with 57 points.
