POMPEY fans have expressed their excitement ahead of the new season.

Many supporters interviewed in Cosham said they were ‘buzzing’ as the Blues enter a new era under the stewardship of the Pompey Supporters’ Trust.

Garry Screen, 57, said: ‘It’s going to be an interesting season. Connolly is the main man but I think it’s the most excited I’ve been about a season in quite a while, because of all the messing around going on down there.

‘Now it’s all settled hopefully we can move on. I think we will go up as Champions.’

This is the first time Pompey’s have played in League Two since the 1979-80 season.

‘Prospects are very good so we have a good chance of promotion,’ said David Faithful, 78.

Some fans have certainly tried to stay on the side of caution however.

David Jones, 22, said he believed Pompey ‘are pretty favourable for going up.’
