Pompey drew a disappointing blank in front of goal as ground out yet another 0-0 draw at Hartlepool.
The Blues looked the better side in the first half and failed to take some decent opportunities in a bright opening spell.
In truth, they should have been ahead at the break as they dominated the majority of the opening 45 minutes.
Patrick Agyemang twice had good opportunities to break the deadlock, while Craig Westcarr also fired over the crossbar when he was well placed.
But after a bright start, their failure to take any of the chances saw the home side take encouaragement and turn it into a more even contest.
The second half, saw neither side genuinely look like they would break the deadlock.
Westcarr perhaps should have done better with a chance as he failed to lift his shot over the advancing Scott Flinders.
And at the other end, Paul Jones was barely tested but Charlie Wyke’s close-range header might have nicked the points late on.
While some might view it as a decent point on the road, in reality it was a big missed opportunity for Pompey against a poor Hartlepool side.
