Fundraisers are being urged to join Linvoy Primus as he gets on his bike for his first Pedal for Primus.

The Pompey great is to take part in this year’s 170-mile cycle challenge to raise money for the Faith & Football-organised event.

The charity are setting themselves a £50,000 target to deliver a much-needed cash injection.

That is based on 50 volunteers raising £1,000 each for the ride, which is now in its fourth year. And the big news is Primus himself will be taking on the challenge for the three-day cycle which begins on Friday, September 2.

Primus will be on the start line at Fratton Park before heading on to Crawley and Brighton and then returning to Pompey.

The event will see organisers put together a challenge, with food, accommodation, back-up vehicles and first-aid all laid on. Faith & Football’s Mick Mellows can’t wait for the occasion to come around.

He said: ‘This event is being launched to raise funds.

‘It’s set to be another great year on the challenge, especially as Linvoy will be cycling for the first time, and we hope that people will be able to join us.’
