Pompey today completed a quickfire double loan swoop.

Colchester’s Marcus Bean has been joined by Gillingham’s Matt Fish ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Morecambe.

Andy Awford promised additions after Wednesday’s FA Cup loss to Aldershot, and he’s been quick to make his moves.

Both players have agreed deals up to and including the January 3 meeting with Tranmere.

Bean has been told he can leave Colchester after falling down the pecking order this term.

The 30-year-old made 36 appearances last season, scoring five goals for the U’s in League One.

Bean started his career at Queens Park Rangers, where he played 67 times from 2002-06.

He went on to represent Swansea, Blackpool – where he won the League One play-offs – and Rotherham before a switch to Brentford.

Fish arrives from Gillingham after picking up the League Two title at Priestfield in the 2012-13 campaign.

The right-back played 49 times as the Gills took that crown, but saw his progress slowed by an anterior cruciate injury.

That saw him make just two appearances last season, and he has followed that up with six outings so far this campaign.

The former Crystal Palace trainee dropped out of league football, spending three years with Dover, before joining Gillingham in 2011.

Bean has been handed the number 18 shirt. Fish will wear 27.
