Pompey failed in their attempt to bring Liverpool defender Paul Konchesky to Fratton Park.
The left-back today signed on an emergemcy loan deal for Nottingham Forest after falling out of favour at Anfield.
It is believed Blues boss Steve Cotterill was keen to bring the one-time England international to Fratton Park on loan.
But a transfer deadline day move failed to materialise after the former Fulham man opted to join Billy Davies’ side.
Konchesky failed to win over Reds fans following his £3m move from Craven Cottage in the summer, and has not played for the club since Roy Hogdson’s departure as manager earlier this month.
With Konchesky making the switch to the City Ground, it is unclear whether Pompey will do any business before the end of today’s transfer deadline.
However, the News understands Cotterill is not expected to bring any new players in despite a depleted squad which was made even smaller by the weekend departure of John Utaka to Montpellier.
