Andy Awford praised Pompey’s performance despite being held to a goalless draw at York.

For the second successive match on the road the Blues failed to put away a struggling League Two side.

Once again the visitors were comfortable defensively, although missed a host of glorious chances at the other end of the pitch.

Craig Westcarr, Jed Wallace and Danny Hollands all had great opportunities late on to grab a victory,

But Awford was pleased overall with this team’s display.

He said: ‘York have had a couple of chances and you could argue they have missed an absolute sitter with one minute to go which was the good fortune we needed.

‘We have had more chances to score and I am absolutely delighted overall with the performance, I thought the lads were excellent, they really were.

‘We controlled the game for long, long spells, especially the first half.

‘In the second half the home team came at us for 20 minutes and we saw that out, then we get total control of the game again.

‘We are just missing that goal.

‘If we get one today we are probably going to get two or three and somebody is going to get a tonking in a minute.’
