Pompey survived a late scare to begin their reserve team campaign with a 3-2 victory at Peterborough this afternoon.
The dominant visitors went 3-0 in front when Ben Close netted from close range in the 70th minute.
It followed Miles Storey’s penalty and an Andy Barcham header.
But after Grant McCann missed a 78th-minute penalty, the Posh fought back.
Jack Friend reduced the deficit and then McCann netted to spark late nerves.
But Alan McLoughlin’s men hung on for the win.
