Pompey’s new-look squad today returned to training for the start of pre-season.

Guy Whittingham’s troops were back in action after a busy summer which saw 14 players recruited.

Of those, eight were new faces in John Sullivan, Joe Devera, Tom Craddock, Sonny Bradley, Danny East, Romain Padovani, Andy Barcham and Ricky Holmes.

They joined the likes of Fratton favourites Johnny Ertl, David Connolly and Patrick Agyemang, who have also penned long-term deals with the Blues since the end of last season.

In addition, there were two triallists at training today in wide man Michael Bryan and striker Ryan Bird.

The squad, which were also joined by the five-man development group, trained at the St John’s College playing fields while work at Langstone Campus is still being completed.
