Pompey defender Jack Whatmough has today completed his first 90 minutes since suffering an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury against Cheltenham in March 2015.

The Blues’ highly-rated 18-year-old defender played the full game for loan club Hawks as Lee Brabdury’s side ran out 1-0 winners over Basingstoke in their National League South relegation battle.

Afterwards, Whatmough took to social media website Twitter to give his thanks to those who have aided him in his 10-month return to fitness.

He said: ‘First 90 minutes in just over 10 months today I couldn’t thank the physios (Sean Duggan, Johnny Hayes and Jamie Gillet) for all the help they gave me, my surgeon (Niall Flynn) the staff and players past and present for keeping me going and a massive thank you to my family for sticking by me. Also a massive thank you to Havant and Waterlooville for taking me on loan and giving me the games I need appreciate it all.’
