Pompey have completed the signing of Manchester United talent Ritchie de Laet.

The Blues have landed the Belgian defender on loan until the end of the season.

De Laet will go straight into Steve Cotterill's squad for the trip to Nottingham Forest tomorrow.

The 22-year-old has spent this season out on loan at Sheffield United and Preston.

But he was recalled from Preston last month following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson's son Darren from Deepdale.

He is eligible to join a third club on loan this season as his stint at Preston was an emergency loan.

De Laet operates predominantly as a left-back but can operate anywhere in defence and started his career at Royal Antwerp.

He moved to Stoke in 2007 and had a loan spell at Welsh outfit Wrexham before sealing his switch to Old Trafford.
