A DEAL worth thousands of pounds has been struck between Portsmouth Football Club and mobile phone provider OneCom.
The firm, which is based in Whiteley, will be an official partner for the club after handing over a £35,000 investment, and promising to donate a portion of any money it gets from fans signing up to its phone services, which could be worth up to £100,000 to the club.
The deal was struck ahead of today’s League 2 opener between Pompey and Oxford United, which will be analysed kick-by-kick in today’s relaunched Sports Mail.
The OneCom deal was signed by the firm’s chief executive, Darren Ridge, and Pompey’s chief executive Mark Catlin.
Mr Ridge said: ‘I’m a Pompey fan and I’m delighted to be able to support the club in this way.
The club’s engagement manager Micah Hall added: ‘We think they have been very generous in their sponsorship. Fans will benefit from talking to OneCom about their services and the club will benefit too.’
