Pompey were second best all over the pitch as they slumped to a 2-0 home defeat to promotion-chasing Shrewsbury Town.

Two goals from Bobby Grant either side of half-time was the difference between the sides, but Andy Awford’s outfit failed to trouble the Town goalkeeper, other than a Jed Wallace effort early in the second half.

After establishing their lead, Town were in control and Pompey had no real answers on dragging themselves back into the contest.

And a burst of boos rang out at the final whistle from the Fratton faithful as they were clearly unhappy with the latest disappointing display.
