League One round-up: Posh make most of five-star Marriott

Pompey have unveiled their new third strip for the campaign.

And it will get its first airing in the League Two clash at Southend tomorrow.

In April, the club asked the Fratton faithful to vote on three options to be produced by supplier Sondico.

More than 5,000 registered their preference over the week-long process.

And the yellow and blue design was the comprehensive winner, polling 46 per cent to ensure that became the chosen strip.

Of the others, a black version finished with 30 per cent, while a purple variant collected 24 per cent.

History shows Pompey have worn a yellow change strip twice before – in the late 1980s and late 1990s.

Now they have another, replacing last season’s maroon and salmon pink third strip, which was also worn by the reserve side earlier this week.

And the strip will be sported by Andy Awford’s men at Roots Hall tomorrow (3pm) as they seek to end a run of successive league defeats.

Commercial and marketing manager Micah Hall said: ‘The yellow kit was a clear winner among fans and we would like to thank them for their input into this decision process.

‘The new shirts have gone down very well with the players, too, who are delighted with the style and quality of the kit.’

The new kit goes on sale from today at the Pompey Store on Fratton Way.

Opening from 9am until 5.30pm, shirts are priced at £39.99 for adults and £34.99 for children.

Children’s sizes from 7-13 are currently in stock, with shorts and socks also available.

Adults sizes available are S, M, L, XL and XXL.
