The Pompey Supporters’ Trust is on the hunt for younger blood to add to its board.

And interested parties
have until Monday to step forward.

The Trust are keen to attract a younger demographic to its make-up, both in terms of membership and those sat on its board.

As a result, it has been decided to seek a candidate aged between 16 and 24 to be co-opted.

The successful appointment will also head the Pompey Supporters’ Trust Youth Committee (PSTYC), with the aim of recruiting other enthusiastic youngsters.

And spokesman John Kimbell believes the creation of such a role is a key move as the Trust strives to develop.

He said: ‘This is something we have been talking about for a while and it has now been unanimously agreed by the Trust board.

‘We recognise the fact we need to attract a younger demographic to the PST and are currently seeking fresh blood.

‘It is noticeable at Trust meetings the average age is probably 40-plus and we need to better reflect the community and fanbase as a whole within our organisation.

‘We feel it is important to understand how youngsters think and what they expect from their football club.

‘It is something we could try to second-guess but it is important to have our finger on the pulse and instead identify the people who know.

‘Whoever comes in will lead a group overseen by us, so if 15 people put their names forward we could co-opt one with the 14 others working as a group under that person.

‘It’s open to all within the age bracket and the direction we want to take will be down to whoever is co-opted.

‘Obviously it is vital we increase our membership, we want to be more representative of people and ultimately the Trust is all about creating a legacy.

‘We are seeking younger fans to get more involved in the Trust movement so it bodes well for the future of the club and hopefully some will come forward and help out.’

Candidates are advised to list their name, age and a brief summary of why they believe they would be well suited for the role.

Applications should be received by midday on Monday.
