CHRIS Akers is a dotcom millionaire and former chairman of Leeds United football club.
The 45-year-old led a reverse takeover of Leeds in 1996 and became chairman until he was ousted by Peter Ridsdale two years later.
The city sports analyst was lauded as one of the heroic entrepreneurs of the dotcom revolution, selling the Sports Internet group he had founded with £25,000 for a massive £250m to BSkyB in 2000 – just before the dotcom bubble burst.
He was chairman of communications firm EuroTelecom Inc, which collapsed in 2001 only 10 months after floating on the Alternative Investment Market. Nothing ever came of a Stock Market probe.
He was named sports entrepreneur of the year at the 2002 Sport Industry Awards.
