Former professional footballer Trevor Birch and his colleague Brian Johnson have been appointed as Pompey’s administrators.

Trevor Birch is a former professional footballer.

He was the first ever football administrator of Tranmere Rovers FC in 1987.

Since then he held chief executive roles at Chelsea, Leeds United, Everton, Derby County and Sheffield United.

He brokered billionaire Roman Abramovich’s £140m takeover of Chelsea.

Mr Birch is the head of PKF’s London corporate recovery and insolvency practice and a member of the firm’s Football Industry Group.

Brian Jackson has 32 years of corporate recovery experience.

He acted as administrator for Scottish clubs Motherwell, Clyde, Dundee and Clydebank.

Mr Jackson is a corporate recovery partner at PKF with football as one of his specialisms.
