KYLE BENNETT welcomed the yardstick Derby’s Capital One Cup test will provide.
And the Pompey attacker believes taking on an outfit two levels above the Blues may help his team’s expansive game.

Paul Cook’s side face a stiff test of their credentials against the Championship side in the televised first-round clash tonight (7.45pm).
For much of last season the Rams looked a good bet to make it to the Premier League, before falling away over the campaign’s finale.
It’s an early-season test of Pompey’s credentials which Bennett is welcoming – and the 24-year-old believes it will given his side an insight into their progress under Cook.
Bennett said: ‘Derby nearly got promoted from the Championship last season.
‘So it’s going to be a great test to see where we’re at.
‘The main focus is the league, but of course we want to win the game.
‘We were sloppy at times on Saturday, so we need to work and stay on top of that.
‘It will be a good match to see where we stand at the moment. There are a lot of things for us to improve on.’
Bennett has Championship experience, after making 36 league appearances and scoring five goals while at Doncaster in the 2011-12 campaign.
The attacker, who made the perfect start to his Pompey career with two goals in Saturday’s 3-0 success over Dagenham & Redbridge, feels taking on a side from that level will suit the expansive game Cook is implementing.
‘You get a lot more time against Championship sides,’ added Bennett.
‘They give you a little bit more respect. Maybe that will suit us.’
