Pompey are back in action this weekend after a fortnight’s break knowing they need victory at Reading to stay in with a realistic chance of barging themselves into the play-offs.

After the 1-0 win at Leicester last time out, Steve Cotterill’s side should still be in confident mood after a fine recent run.

And Cotterill has one or two selection decisions to make with Liam Lawrence now back to fitness, but Joel Ward, Jonathan Hogg, Hayden Mullins, David Cotterill and David Nugent also pushing for places in the midfield.

While the defence has excelled in recent weeks, perhaps Carl Dickinson or Aaron Mokoena deserve recalls?

Or is the time right to switch from the 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation to go for broke and partner Nugent alongside Dave Kitson or even bring Kanu in to attack Reading?

Has the international break come at the right time for Pompey to re-group and refresh some tired bodies for the final push or has it put the brakes on the momentum that was building?
