Rohan Ricketts has blasted Steve Cotterill after failing to win a Pompey trial.
The former Spurs winger is now a free agent and had suggested on his Twitter account over the weekend he was set to train with the Blues this week.
However, Cotterill has emphatically rejected his offer.
It is a response which has left Ricketts, who is desperate for a club, reeling.
And it has prompted him to hit out at the Blues boss on his Twitter page.
He said: 'I have to make an announcement about Portsmouth Football Club because apparently there is an article out saying that I was given a trial and I did not turn up.
'This is absolutely ridiculous! I was not offered a trial by Steve Cotterill or anyone at the club!
'My representative spoke with Steve and his response was unbelievably uncalled for.
'I cannot wrap my head around it! Pompey have a small squad (four players on the bench for the last game) and I am free, fit and hungry to play.
'I could understand if Steve said I am not his type of player or he does not need my position. But what he said was totally uncalled for!!
'People wonder why players like myself find it harder to get back into the UK (my homeland), it's not talent.
'It's down to a coach create an opinion about you when he has never even met you or had a conversation with you. The fans of clubs deserve more.'
