Jay Sadler has stepped up to take over as caretaker manager after Craig Taylor left Pompey Ladies.

Chairman Mick Williams believes Sadler is the ideal man to guide the team after the shock exit of the boss who joined the club in the summer.

He said: ‘Of course we are very sorry to lose Craig.

‘He is genuinely a really nice person and I am sure I speak for everyone at the club when I wish him all the very best for the future.

‘Caretaker manager Jay Sadler is a respected and well qualified coach.

‘I am grateful he has agreed to step into this role at very short notice and am confident he will he enjoy the backing of players and management alike while in charge.’

The Blues won three of their eight league matches under Taylor, losing four.

His last match in charge was the 4-2 defeat at Charlton in the FA Women’s Premier League on Sunday.

Sadler was Taylor’s assistant and will now step into the hotseat.
