Here are seven facts about Pompey’s new signing Enda Stevens.

1. His first name is relatively common in Ireland, where a child is often named after the saint Enda of Aran.

2. He has experience of European football having played 15 times for Shamrock Rovers in the UEFA Europa League.

3. He signed for Rovers in 2009 and helped them win the League of Ireland title.

4. in 2011 he was named Young Player of the Year in Ireland.

5. He was signed for Aston Villa by Alex McLeish.

6. He made his full debut for Villa in 2012 in a 3–0 win against Tranmere Rovers in the League Cup second round

7. He made his Republic of Ireland under-21s debut in a friendly match away to Cyprus in February 2011.
