Talk over Steve Cotterill’s future is set to strengthen his case for a new deal.

Chairman Dave Whelan is reported to be eyeing the Blues manager as a successor to Roberto Martinez, with Whelan to review his position as the club fight for survival.
Cotterill’s stock has risen since arriving at Fratton Park last June. It is understood there has been talk of a new contract as a result of Pompey’s progress, with seven wins from nine sparking unlikely play-off ambitions.
The 46-year-old inked a three year agreement after succeeding Avram Grant last year.
