Guy Whittingham has unveiled physio Steve Allen as his Pompey number two.

Allen has been at Fratton Park since being recruited by then-manager Steve Cotterill from Charlton in August 2010.

He has established himself as an integral part of the club’s backroom and, since the turn of the year, has had a crucial role in recruitment.

Allen, who has been in professional football for 28 years, has helped bring the likes of David Connolly, Yassin Moutaouakil, Patrick Agyemang and Therry Racon to Pompey.

He will now combine the assistant manager role with his existing duties as the club’s head of medicine.
