Guy Whittingham has revealed match-winner Yassin Moutaouakil wasn’t even one of his chosen penalty takers.
The Frenchman stepped up to take the Blues’ fifth spot-kick against Torquay in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last night.
He produced an audacious chip down the middle to secure a 5-3 win after the match finished goalless at full-time.
It was calmness personified from Moutaouakil – but Whittingham had no idea what to expect.
He said: ‘Four of them were fantastic penalties and the fifth one was wonderful!
‘We practised on Monday. Some of them were at David Lloyd and some of them were at the training ground.
‘Those at the training ground practised but Yassin wasn’t with us.
‘We didn’t really know what he was going to do to tell you the truth but he was confident.
‘He went straight to Macca and said he wanted the fifth one, so we trusted him.
‘I think he knew what he was doing. I wouldn’t have done that!’
