It was a fast and frenetic start to the match with both teams showing good energy levels.

The hosts looked the slightly more dangerous team.

A looping header from Jordan Brooks was the closest the Blues came to opening the scoring in the first 10 minutes.

His effort clipped the crossbar and went out for a goalkick.

At the other end Kyle McDowell was required to be in the right place at the right time as he cleared Peterborough’s first effort off the line.

Then Pompey took the lead on 14 minutes.

McDowell delivered a great ball into the area and Woodward smashed his volley into the back of the net.

Peterborough responded but Tommy Scutt cleared off the line.

Then Harvey Bradbury had a shot saved at the other end and Theo Widdrington had the final chance of the first half but he fired over the top.

The equaliser arrived for Posh on 64 minutes.

A rebound off the post was converted by the visiting striker.

Woodward cracked a half volley just wide of the target as Pompey attempted to regain their advantage.

Scutt then had the final effort for Mikey Harris’ side.

But his shot from outside the box swerved wide of the goal.
