RUNNERS taking part in a town’s half marathon will be following a different route.

The Gosport Half Marathon has gone through Daedalus airfield – now an enterprise zone – for the past eight years.

But organisers were told they cannot do so this year.

Mike Barker, from the team, said: ‘For the past eight years a major section of the route was located on the Daedalus airfield and due to the rebuilding that is now taking place we were advised not to use this section.

‘This year we have had to design a completely new route. It has been a really big challenge.’

Mr Little said it was ‘touch and go’ whether the event would be held after the forced changes.

The race starts on Sunday, November 16 at 10am. Ward councillor John Beavis said he hopes the route will revert to Daedalus next year.
