Portsmouth gymnasts produced some dazzling displays in the Southern Region Teams Competition at Abingdon.

The Alex Way based Portsmouth Gymnastics Club (PGC) entered both a junior level three team and an espoir team, using top level FIG rules.

All the gymnasts enjoyed working together and supporting their team-mates on the different apparatus.

In the Espoir FIG team competition the gymnasts performed well for the silver all-around team medal.

Highly-talented PGC gymnast Maisie Lloyd-Jones led the way as she showed the class that has attracted the attention of the England squad coaches in recent months.

She delivered a clean sweep of the gold medals.

Her team-mate Summer Yeates managed silver on beam and also enjoyed a good performance.

Other team members were on song.

Hannah Judden had a fabulously clean competition and again proved her consistency.

Up and coming star Ellie Mae Peach showed courage to perform a new difficult vault move.

The team also picked up numerous execution ribbons across all four pieces of apparatus.

Meanwhile, the juniors competed well.

They had a few falls on beam and finished in third.

Georgia Luff earned gold on bars and silver on beam.

Comfort Yeates and Sydney Whittle also picked up medals as they impressed on floor.

Coach Tina Field said: ‘It’s good for the girls to do lots of different competitions and this one is different as they compete as a team and can root for their best friends.

‘The girls did well and it was an enjoyable competition with some high level skills performed.’
