Suki impress in Cardiff with top-class displays

In total 22 routines were performed by the members of the Gosport club in the high-quality event.

Eleanor Meachen starred in the Recreational Aerobic Code group one individual category event.

She picked up a gold medal with a personal best score of 15.5.

Erin Buick and Lucie Emmett also made their mark in their first appearance at such a high-standard competition.

Buick managed to secure a personal best score for 2016 and finished in the top 10.

In the National Aerobic Code, Suki gymnasts were in flying form.

Jasmine Welsh repeated her gold medal winning performance from March to take the top spot on the podium and set a new best for the year.

India Maclean improved her score from March to finish 12th overall.

Team-mates Katie Holder and Callie Moore performed well.

Moore managed to finish 16th overall with a personal best for 2016, with Holder in 19th.

Tyesha Kirton and Mackenzie Towse finished second overall.

Caitlin Downing, Josie Vassie and Welsh performed an exceptional routine to finish in first place.

Katie Holder and Callie Moore performed a really good new routine and picked up the bronze medal in the group two pairs.

Kirton, Towse and Freya Meachen were all competing in the biggest individual category.

They all performed energetic routines with Kirton and Meachen gaining personal best scores.

Only one mark separated first place and Meachen in 23rd place.

Jade Newnham finished fourth in the senior category with her top score of the year.

The gymnasts competing in the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique category took centre stage on Sunday.

Annis Buick managed to up her game in the group one individual category, improving her routine by 0.65.

This is Taylor Townley’s first year at this level and she improved her score by 0.45.

In the senior individual category, Victoria Barrell performed back in March for the first time in this age group and achieved the bronze medal.

Unfortunately nerves got the better of her in this national competition meaning she lost a couple of moves.

However, all the gymnasts gained experience from this event to prepare them for the next competition.

Suki head coach Natalie Porter praised the squad for their efforts.

She said: ‘All of our gymnasts did an excellent job and everyone there had a great team spirit.

‘Thank you to the coaches who volunteered their time over the weekend to ensure it was a successful two days.’

Suki gymnasts will next be heading to the British Championships in Liverpool in July.
