Spooner lauds great display

CAPTAIN Katie Spooner praised City of Portsmouth Ladies after a good 2-0 win at home to Haslemere seconds in Hampshire League division two.

Becky Clay and player-of-the-match Lauren Stewart got the goals for City.

Spooner is happy with the way her team are performing.

The first goal was netted by Clay, after some great hassling by City attackers.

City got their second goal when a through-ball split the Haslemere defence and Stewart smashed her shot first time low into the net.

City of Portsmouth ladies’ second team lost 11-0 to fifth-placed Fleet & Ewshot.

Captain Meri Westlake was pleased with the effort, despite the score.

City of Portsmouth men lost 4-1 at Southampton University in Hampshire League division one.

Stuart Avery scored the goal for Portsmouth.

Daniel Brettell netted to earn City seconds a 1-1 draw at home to Yateley in Hampshire League division three. Jacob Jolliffe was man of the match.

George Berks scored, while Hendrick Dercon was man of the match but City thirds lost 4-1 to Camberley & Farnborough in Hampshire division six.

City Stars beat Trojans 7-1 in division 10. Paul Barnes and Harry Hellyer both scored twice with James Payne, Alfie Hall and Matt Butler-Keating also netting.
