Canadian forward Drew Campbell is looking to fire Solent Devils to a strong National League performance.
The former Wightlink Raiders player has been tempted back to the Gosport club.
He previously arrived at the Devils in 2009, helping them win National League south two – and netted a total of 111 goals in 75 appearances over three years.
Campbell then moved on to the Raiders and also had a spell at Haringey Racers.
But he’s now returned to play a lead role again.
He said: ‘I know I’ll be expected to lead by example and I relish this, as I know I’ll be able to help out the young guys.
‘The league has grown a lot and is a very competitive league, and I believe we could upset a few teams this year.
‘And in doing so we should make the play-offs.’
The Devils have been busy recruiting players for the new season.
Former Basingstoke Bison keeper Connor Standing has joined, after winning a medal in the English Premier League play-offs last season.
He replaces highly-rated young keeper Christian Cole, who has moved across the Solent to join up with Wightlink raiders.
Also signed up is 18-year-old England youth international Josh Abbott.
The forward began his ice hockey career with the Devils and is delighted to return after a spell at Guildford.
His recent call-up for England under-19s highlights his quality.
Abbott said: ‘It is a great opportunity to progress as a player.
‘I am looking forward to making the jump up from juniors to senior hockey.
‘I’m expecting it to be hard but I’m excited about the challenge ahead.’
The Devils have also strengthened their defensive unit with the signing of Ben Lock from Wightlink Raiders.
Lock said: ‘I thought the opportunity to be part of a young, vibrant team, playing attractive hockey, would be good for me.’
