The Solent Devils were denied victory as Bracknell Hornets battled for a 3-3 draw in National League south one.

Bracknell hit the front when Jack Bavystock was in the perfect position to take a pass and drive the puck past Christian Cole.

Two minutes later, with Bracknell on the attack again, Richard Facey picked up the puck deep in the Devils zone.

Facey then found George Norcliffe who took the puck the entire length of Bracknell’s Olympic-sized ice pad.

He showed his great skills before setting up the supporting Dominik Hegyi, heading right down the middle of the ice, who with a slap shot found the back of the Hornets net to tie the game.

In the second period, the trio of Facey, Hegyi and Norcliffe were out to prove a point.

The three of them launched run after run, threading their way through the Hornets defence.

But they were unable to add to the goal tally and unfortunately for the Devils, Bracknell struck at the other end.

Greg Chambers found himself in space so when the puck made its way to him he managed to tie up the Devils defence.

And while heading away from the Devils goal, he slipped the puck back to Matt Jordan who narrowly got it between Cole and the post.

During the third period, the attention the Hornets had been giving to Hegyi for the first two periods was increased, which slowed down the efforts of Facey and Norcliffe, but not for long.

Eight minutes into the third period, Facey got the puck through to Hegyi who managed to put it over Milton’s head and make it 2-2.

While on the man advantage, Ben Lock was out at the Bracknell blue line, taking a huge slap shot which was blocked by the lower leg of Brandon Miles.

Miles hit the ice, and had to be helped back to the Hornets bench.

Four minutes after the Devils second, Shaun Rudkin found Alex Murray, who set up Norcliffe to make it 3-2.

With exactly 90 seconds left on the clock, Bracknell’s Danny Hughes fired a blast at the top corner.

Cole got his glove in front of it but the power of the shot helped the puck bounce up high into the net.

The next home game for Devils is against the Wightlink Raiders on Sunday, September 27 at 7pm.
