IT'S A 21-YEAR LEASE

THE future of Bury Town FC is looking secure following the approval this week of a new 21-year lease on their Ram Meadow ground.

St Edmundsbury Borough Council's leisure services committee approved the granting of a new lease and it is expected that negotiations will begin shortly.

After the meeting, the club's newly-appointed chairman Russell Ward said that he was relieved that the matter was well on the way to being settled.

He went on to thank the council for their support since he had taken over the helm at Bury Town and said that he saw this as a positive development for the club which was in danger of folding weeks before the season got underway.

"When I took over as chairman in August, the settling of a new lease was a priority. Now that has been achieved, I feel we can move on and continue to secure the future of the club, on and off the pitch," commented Ward, who is still seeking main club and shirt sponsorship.
