Trisha White has lauded Eurotech’s rapid rise up the Portsmouth League and declared: I’m so proud.
After just three seasons together, the side have risen from division five to division two, losing just one game along the way.
Last term they were undefeated as they netted the third division crown.
And coach White puts the team’s success down to their versatility and superb leadership from their skipper.
She said: ‘We have a very versatile team.
‘In training all of the girls have been practising a secondary position.
‘They work hard and put in 100-per-cent effort – week in, week out.
‘And they have been led to victory by our outstanding captain Jo Storey.’
The shooting form of Milly Trickler and Kelly Walker was brilliant last season.
They helped the side score more than 40 goals a game, finishing with a massive tally of 631 for the whole season.
Trickler has since left the team but Tracey McGee stepped up to keep the scores flowing.
As they embark on the fresh challenge of division two, Eurotech have moved to bolster their shooting options with the arrival of Kim Payne.
And the early signs are very promising, with the team rattling up wins over Shooting Stars’ third and fourth teams.
‘We were lucky enough to sign Kim,’ said White.
‘With her vast experience and knowledge of the game she has slotted in brilliantly with Walker and the two are proving to be a sensational shooting duo.’
Meanwhile, McGee, Angie Oliver, Letitia Wright, Shannen Woods and Charla Clements were fantastic and versatile on court.
They worked tirelessly between the wing and centre positions, keeping the shooters well fed and working hard with the defence, too.
The defensive pairing of Jo Storey and Karen Griffiths were unstoppable all season, too.
And this campaign they have carried on where they left off.
The coach said: ‘We are enjoying our new challenge and have had a great start.
‘I hope we can keep up the winning streak but I have told the girls we need to keep our feet firmly on the ground and not get complacent.
‘The ongoing support of Michelle Agius and Eurotech has been invaluable.
‘And the girls’ performances have been amazing since I took the team over.
‘We could not have achieved any of this without the massive team effort.’
Eurotech have also welcomed Abi Morgan back, after she had twins, and newcomer Heidi Tame.
