Gosport Gators under-14/16s have finally got off the mark in the All About Netball League at Cams Hill School.

The budding talents chalked up their maiden success with a 12-8 defeat of Fareham Fireflys Gold.

It was not all plain sailing for the Gaters, though.

And it wasn’t an easy watch for their growing army of fans.

But despite only taking a one-goal advantage into the final quarter, they held their nerve to triumph,

Goal-shooter Trinity Niessen kept a very cool head and continued to pop the goals in, while Harriet Millar supported her well from goal-attack.

Evie Warringer, who has improved so much, was vital on the wing and turned over several balls with Katie Burns never giving up at centre.

Laila Jones defended on the wing, making the Fireflys’ job even harder.

Eleanor Sales, with her massive stretch over the ball, and Olivia Dawe worked together superbly in defence.

On another court, Jellies suffered their first defeat – as they went down to Teamforce 23-11.

Grace Beardsley, for Jellies, and Teamforce’s Bethany Young were voted players’ players.

Fareham Fireflys Orange beat Teamforce II 25-3.

Rebecca Barrows, for Team Force, tried hard to defend against the barrage of goals.

Charlotte Jenkins starred for Orange.

Jenkins, along with team-mate Elinor McNaulty, are definitely marking themselves out as ones to watch for the future.

In the under-12s, Teamforce III beat Fareham Fireflys Blue 31-0.

Libby Digweed was named as players’ player for Team Force, while Hannah Windsor got the honour for Blues.

The in-form Stars Yellow defeated Fareham Fireflies Teal 18-1.

May Dainty was the top player for Yellow and Martha Weaver was the Teal star.
