Jessie Jewell has secured a place in the Super League with Surrey Storm NTL.
The Portsmouth netball star has progressed through local junior league netball, to the Hampshire junior league and on to adult leagues.
Now she’s carved out a chance at Super League level.
She was hand picked for the final match squad of 16, from an original pool of more than 60 girls.
Jewell, 16, has had a super couple of years with regional play-offs, being selected for the Hampshire Academy and the Player Development Pathway.
Now bigger things beckon.
She has secured the starting goal-attack position in Shooting Star’s South Region division two side this season.
Jewell has also been promoted to both first teams in the Portsmouth and Gosport leagues, as her skills go from strength to strength.
It’s progress she’s taking in her stride.
Jewell said: ‘I just hope I continue to improve and make it all the way to the Surrey Storm Super League team in season’s to come.’
The former Mayfield School pupil will be showing off her skills in the NPL tournament, in Worcester, next weekend against all super league teams.
Playing at higher levels requires the commitment to fitness programmes and off court training programmes, as well as training sessions with Surrey Storm, in Guildford, and club training with Shooting Stars.
Jewell has to balance that with her studies at South Downs College and will be playing in the college team.
Mum and coach Jane is delighted to see her daughter living the dream.
She said: ‘Her netball career is getting busier and better each week – she is living her dream.’
