Ant comes out on top

Ant Buik took the honours in round seven of the ISAC Southern Premier League.

The contest was fished at Hillhead, in Fareham.

A total of 429 fish were landed on the night by 56 entrants for a total weight of 51lb 9ozs (23.378kg).

This tally was made up of 33 silver eel, one smooth-hound, four sole and 391 top-ups.

The match was won by Buik with a total weight of 5lb (2.267kg) from peg 63.

His total also included the heaviest fish of the match – a smooth hound of 85cm, granted a measure and return weight of 4lb 8oz.

The victory earned Ant the top cash prizeof 130 and the ISAC round seven match-winner's trophy and certificate.

Runner-up in the match was Nick Pateman, from Gosport, who won zone B from peg 52 with a total weight of 2lb 6ozs (1.077kg).

The final podium place went to SPL sponsor Mike Perfect.

Both zone winners won cash prizes of 100.

The victory has fired Ant to the top of the overall Individual Shore Championship table on 30 points.

Round eight will be held on September 25 at Shoreham in West Sussex,with fishing from 7pm to midnight.
