Young prospects hooked on the action

ANGLING prospects were hooked on the action in the latest round of junior open matches at the MBK fisheries, Coloured Ponds, Rake.

Father and daughter fisherie owners Ken and Kendra Wright put a series of open junior matches together during the warmer months to introduce youngsters to the delights of coarse fishing.

They also added a competitive side where all the children can win prizes of tackle for their catch and learn the skills of coarse angling in a relaxed and safe manner.

First up was the junior and intermediate open match where Neil Cornwell, fishing in the aged nine-to-12-year- olds, landed a fine 48lb 8oz of carp.

It was enough to win for Cornwell, who was using long pole and margin tactics with paste hook bait over a bed of pellets.

The next match is on Saturday at MBK Coloured Ponds, Rake.

Draw is midday and fishing is from 1pm to 4pm. Telephone Ken on 07885 754365 for more details.
