Hawks net Lord's final
SATURDAY, July 25, 2009 - stick it in your diary!
It's the day Hampshire will bid to lift the first silverware of the summer in front of a full house at Lord's - the home of cricket.
Sunday's 64-run triumph over Lancashire in their own back yard booked Dimi Mascarenhas & Co their spot in the Friends Provident Trophy showdown.
It's a chance to fight for the prize they gift-wrapped for Durham back in 2007 after celebrating victory two years previous.
And it's an opportunity for Giles White to taste a premier success after less than a year in the Rose Bowl hotseat.
Jimmy Adams (78) and Michael Lumb (76) notched a 159-run opening stand as Hampshire were bowled out for 271 in 48.4 overs.
Lancashire had asked the Hawks to bat and were no doubt ruing that decision when they fell 65 runs short of victory.
Imran Tahir took three for 38 as Hampshire sealed their spot at the home of cricket.
Hampshire will face Sussex, who beat Gloucestershire courtesy of an Ed Joyce ton, in the final.
