Lancashire v Hampshire preview

After last weekend's Twenty20 success at Essex, it seems highly likely Hampshire manager Giles White will keep faith with an unchanged XI for tomorrow's Friends Provident semi-final at Lancashire.

Hampshire's limited-overs team has been relatively settled this term – with only the recent injuries and unavailability of Chris Tremlett and Dimi Mascarenhas causing a rethink.

With the full squad to choose from, it seems White is happy with the balance of the team, but has added Billy Taylor and Hamza Riazuddin to the squad as cover.

Perhaps the only change that White may contemplate would surround Liam Dawson, who failed to bat or bowl at Essex last week.

Depending on the Old Trafford pitch, White may opt for an extra seamer, with Taylor more likely to get the nod than Riazuddin.

But there is a strong argument for keeping a settled side. The players know their roles and there's no need to change.

THEIR TEAM

While there is quality in the Lancashire side, there are question marks over the depth in talent.

Without Andrew Flintoff and Jimmy Anderson, Saj Mahmood and Glen Chapple are the pick of the bowling attack, but they don't carry the same threat.

ONES TO WATCH

With 105 Test matches and 14 Test centuries to his name, VVS Laxman is a proven international batsman of considerable repute.

The India star is also in good nick after 78 not out in his last Twenty20 Cup outing.
