Gators are once more snapping away at their rivals after making a fresh start.

The Gosport club began a new era in September when they linked up with the Queen’s Head in Gosport.

Having hunted down some new investment, the ladies freshened up their look with new kit.

And now they are beginning to reap the rewards as they prey on their Gosport & Fareham League rivals.

Following a complete overhaul of their squad – due to university departures – Gators B are fighting to consolidate their position in division three.

They sit in sixth spot with just one game remaining.

Meanwhile, the A team have held their own in division three – sitting in mid-table with one game to play.

‘The new look Gators B line-up took a few weeks to settle,’ said first-team captain Rachel Elgie.

‘But they have now gelled well and are playing some very good netball.

‘A couple of wins under their belt gave them a much-needed confidence boost and from then the improvement was remarkable. The original Gators girls have welcomed the new players into the team and have shown great support and encouragement.

‘They now have a great team spirit and attitude to the game.

‘They are fighting hard and working well together but most of all just love playing. It is a pleasure to watch and support them when I can.

‘And with time and experience of playing together, I think this will be a team to contend with.

‘I really hope things go their way in the last match and they stay in division four, as I think they have now proved they deserve it. The A team have worked hard this season and have pulled out some great performances.

‘There have been some frustrating games, too, but thanks to the team spirit and never-say-die attitude of everyone we have not given up.

‘There have been some great individual performances.

‘And it has been great to have Linda Grocott and Ann Lowry back full-time.’

‘I’m looking forward to building on the progress we have made and taking it into the summer season.’

Meanwhile, chairwoman Liz Hendrick has hailed the partnership with their new sponsors.

‘We are thrilled to have new sponsorship by Fon and Becky Owen at the Queen’s Head, which has enabled us to buy a fantastic new kit,’ she said.

‘We were delighted when they agreed to include us in their good work for the local community.

‘Fon and Becky have been long term supporters of our club.’

Gators also boast three teams in the Gosport & Fareham Junior League – one in each age group.
