GENERATION ACES are aiming to go one better after finishing runners-up in the Portsmouth League last season.

A 9-1 drubbing of Soberton and Newtown saw them get off to a flier in division one.

Charlie Childs and Billy Ho won three apiece.

The only reply came from Dave Woodacre, who beat the fast-improving 13-year-old talent, Letitia McMullan.

It was a blip for McMullan who has the potential to get in, or close, to the top 10 players in the England rankings.

Pete Woodare lost 11-9 in the decider with Childs.

Former champions Royal Navy beat Knowle Rovers 7-3, despite a fine hat-trick from Nick Webb.

Navy’s formation of Lee Orton, Sarah Hilditch and Kevin Smith won the other rubbers.

Generation Kings defeated club-mates Jacks 8-2, with a hat-trick by Mike Rhodes.

Andy Stagg hit back by overcoming Mike Cooksly and John Taylor.

PGC Blue and Cowplain Blue shared the spoils in a draw.

Roger Winkworth was unbeaten for Cowplain, surviving two five setters.

PGC duo Mike Gibbs and Paul Fitzgerald won a pair each.

In division two, Cowplain Cobras beat Knowle Tenacity 6-4.

Jim Malcolm and Alan Bland won a brace each for Cobras.

John Cooper picked up a treble for Tenacity.

Cowplain Neptune were too strong for Avenue Puffins 7-3.

Hat-trick men Steve Long and Dave Wiles did the damage.

Portsmouth Black beat Phoenix Saturn 7-3 with trebles from Liam O’Neill and Billy Edwards.

Sporting St Clares recorded an 8-2 win in their encounter with Cowplain Alexandra.

Tim Hampton took a maximum.

Neil Landsman replied with wins over Graham Wiggins and Dave Morgan.

Division three side Cowplain Crimson beat Phoenix Saturn 6-4, with three wins for Chris Plant and two from Don Wilson.
