NEWLY-CROWNED British Formula One Sidecar Championship duo Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood celebrated a superb season with another victory at Brands Hatch.

Having wrapped up the title at Silverstone two weeks ago, the Portsmouth-based AOS/BeWiser team could have been forgiven for taking their foot off the pedal for the penultimate weekend.

But this was not the case as they won one of the two races up for grabs.

They also finished fourth in the other, despite starting at the back of the grid.

With 12 wins and numerous lap records set this season, the pair only failed to finish once during the 10-round event, winning the Championship by 124.5 points.

Stevens admitted it was a series to savour.

‘It has been an amazing season. I would like to thank all our team and the sponsors who have supported us all season.

‘Ryan has just been unbelievable as a passenger and thank you to him. To win this Championship is like a dream come true.’

Charlwood added: ‘The support we have had is just incredible, everyone’s hard work has paid off.’

Also in Kent was the Havant-based JH Racing Cat Finning team of Ben Holland Lee Watson.

A 10th and fifth-place finish in the two races was enough to earn them fifth in the overall standings.

Holland said: ‘It’s been a trying season with some good results but the whole team have stuck at it. I would like to thank our sponsors for their help this year.’
