Lauren Steadman retained her European title with a great performance in Switzerland.

The Portsmouth-based triathlete is the reigning world champion.

Now she has added the gold medal in the ETU European Triathlon Union European Championships PT4 category to her trophy cabinet.

Steadman led home a Great Britain one, two, three in Geneva on Friday.

She completed the course in a time of 1hr 6min 40sec.

Faye McClelland finished second (1.09.58) and Clare Cunningham was third (1.11.09).

Meanwhile, Southsea triathlete Neil Collins secured an excellent 13th place in the European Triathlon Championships, age 40-44 category, on Friday in Geneva.

Collins was third Brit to finish in his age group, recording a time of 1hr 10min 07sec for the sprint distance race.

Hungarian Kuttor Csaba won the age group (1.04.37) and was second overall out of more than 700 competitors.
