Pompey hope to announce owner imminently

Portsmouth expect to name the man behind Peter Storrie's new deal to buy the club in the next 24 hours.

News of the proposed takeover broke last week with Storrie confirming he was in talks with an interested party.

The News understands that the potential new owner is from the Middle East and is acting on his own rather than as part of a consortium.

A Pompey spokesman said: 'It's all being dealt with by the lawyers and everything has to be in the right place before an announcement can be made.'

It is possible an announcement could be made before Pompey take to the field against Hereford in the league cup at Fratton Park tonight.

What role Sulaiman Al Fahim will have in Storrie's proposed takeover of the club remains to be seen.
