Gabor Gyepes is weighing up a January exit

Gabor Gyepes has revealed he may be forced to quit Pompey next month.

The Hungarian defender turned in another impressive display during Saturday’s goalless draw with Preston North End.

His monthly contract expires on January 5, however.

And he is one of 18 Blues players who will become free agents during the next transfer window.

Gyepes insists he would love to remain at Fratton Park.

However, with the club still in administration only month deals are on offer.

That situation is not likely to be resolved soon with the next court case to decide the club’s future pencilled in for January 15.

In the meantime, Gyepes – whose family are still in Hungary – conceded he could leave in order to get the personal stability of a long-term deal.

He said: ‘There are 18 players whose contract runs out in January – even mine.

‘My contract runs out on January 5.

‘My situation is I would be really happy if I could stay here.

‘But I have to look after my family.

‘And if I find something else – another option – I think I would have to take it.

‘I’m really happy here, it’s a good football club and I am really happy to play for it.

‘But I am 31 and I have to do as much as possible.

‘I don’t know if I will be going yet, we will see.

‘It’s really close, I know, but I want to concentrate on football.

‘When it comes to January I will sit down and think about that.

‘Then I will make a decision about my future.’
