Mark McMahon gives live updates from Pompey's opening pre-season friendly at West Leigh Park.
Welcome everyone to a splendid looking West Leigh Park, where Pompey kick-off their 2010 pre-season programme against the Hawks.
There's hardly a cloud in the sky and the early indications are that a bumper crowd is expected at the home of the Blue Square South outfit.
But enough of that, here's the all-important teams.
Pompey's starting line-up is as folows: Stewart, Ward, Mullins, Hughes, Wilson, Pack, Cowan-Hall, Brown, Nugent, Ritchie, Smith.
As for the Hawks, their starting XI is: Ashmore, Newton, McDonald, Selley, Pearce, Simpemba, Fogden, Hopkinson, Igoe, Tiryaki, Ramsey.
Well, it's approaching kick-off and here come the two teams, with Pompey, as expected, in their traditional blue, white and red kit.
1: Frst chance of the game falls to Matt Ritchie. He shapes up to shoot in the box, but his effort is deflected for a corner which comes to nothing.
3: Mark Wilson, playing centre-half, picks out Tommy Smith with an exquisite ball, a move which earns Popmpey another corner.
7: A massive punt forward from keeper John Stewart falls behind the Hawks defence. David Nugent looks to capitalise but is fouled.
9: Paris Cowan-Hall lays the ball off to Ritchie in the box, but once again the diminutive frontman sees his shot deflected for a corner. A positive start from Pompey.
14: Hawks 0-1 Pompey (Nugent)
Marlon Pack wins the ball in the centre of defence. His header isn't dealt with by the Hawks defence and Nugent is there to tuck the ball past Nathan Ashmore with a cool finish.
16: The Hawks have a chance to hit back straight away with a free-kick on the edge of the box. Selley whips the ball in but Pack clears confidently.
18: Smith has his delicate header cleared off the line by Bobby Hopkinson.
25: Something I've never seen before in a football match - a break in play so the players can enjoy a few ligh trefreshments.
27: The Hawks conjure up their first real attack of the game. Sammy Igoe picks out Ramsey, who volleys his effort just past the post.
31: Nugent shows he's still capable of missing sitters as he scuffs his shot from six-yards out, leaving Ashmore with the simplest of saves.
Seconds earlier, the Hawks should have equalised as Wes Fogden tricked and turned his way in the Pompey penalty area, only to run out of steam under the watchful eye of Wilson.
36: A poor first touch by Smith lets him down as Pompey threatend with pace through the middle.
36: Another chance for Pompey but Nugent heads straight at Ashmore.
38: Hawks 1-1 Pompey (Tiryaki)
Selley's long-range free-kick picks out Mustafa Tiryaki at the back post. The giant striker gets in between Pack and Stewart and heads into an ungaurded net.
39: Igoe has a shot against his former team from distance but Stewart is equal to it.
42: Joel Ward finds himself in the Hawks box. He looks to be crowded out of things but spots the smallest of gaps and has a rattle. It looks goalbound but goes agonisingly over. Decent effort out of nothing.
Half-time: Hawks 1-1 Pompey
46: Liam O'Brien replaces Stewart in the Pompey goal, while the Hawks opt for six changes.
48: Penalty to the Hawks but the home side have nothing to show for it.
Substitute Stuart Douglas is clipped by Pack as he bursts through and is brought down in the box. The referee awards a penalty and allows the defender to stay on. Pompey then enjoy a second stave of execution as Sam Pearce his his effort well saved by sub O'Brien.
55: Hawks 1-2 Pompey (Brown)
The midfielder scores from the tightest of angles as a misplaced Nugent pass finds the former Wigan man. The angle is tight as the midfielder ways up his options, but he choses to have a go - and what a decision it was.
60: Pompey subs: Hughes and Wilson off. Ellis Martin and Peter Gregory on.
66: Brown shows some inventiveness as he swivels and plays a smart ball into Nugent, The striker looks to pounce but the referee's assistance raises his flag for off-side.
67: Pompey ring the changes with Mullins, Nugent, Smith, Ritchie, Cowan-Hall, Pack and Brown brought off for the kids. We could attempt to name them all, but to be honest, it will take all day!
74: With both teams fielding young reserves, the game has now got that unfortunate fell of a pre-season game. It's a pity, it wasn't a bad contest, to be fair.
90: That's it folks, nothing else to report I'm afraid apart from a 2-1 Pompey victory.
